Description:
Expected outcome: Tracking progress in the implementation of CitiesIPCC global research agenda, fostering collaboration to bridge knowledge and science gaps; support cities to contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement with a mutual alignment of national policies and local actions in the frame of the NDCs and NAPs,
Further information: ICLEI and City of Bonn have been hosting Resilient Cities Congress since 2010 The event is actively engaging UNFCCC and NWP partners, which is presented as ICLEIs NWP Action Pledge. Paris Agreement recognizes the importance of engagement of all levels of governments which has to be reflected in all UNFCCC processes as appropriate.

In 2016, IPCC decided to advance its focus on cities, including a special report on cities at the 7th Assessment Cycle. At COP23, NWP had a dedicated Focal Point Forum on human settlements and adaptation. In March 2018, CitiesIPCC is convened which resulted in a draft global research agenda on cities and climate change which will be considered at the IPCC Plenary in October 2018.
