Description: Presentation activity of the Community Alert System built by the group of women to the community of Pântano do Sul.

The Project has operations on four fronts:
FRONT I; Long Term Activities in Small-Scale Fishing Communities at Pântano do Sul District, in Florianópolis (SC): These activities seek to reduce the vulnerability within the district. This is done through the promotion of a risk perception culture. This promotion is achieved by the creation of methodologies for climate change adaptation through active participation of the local community.
FRONT II; Short Expeditions through the Brazilian Coast: These expeditions are aiming to stimulate reflection on the importance of climate change adaptation and the observation of EWE (extreme weather events) in their communities, and to foster the dialogue between local actors who can disseminate this reflection and propose collective actions for community empowerment and the building of more resilient communities.
FRONT III; Sectoral Articulation: This is a platform with the intent of fostering dialogues that allow the integration of several social sectors for the development and implementation of sustainable actions that increase the resilience of islands environments. The dialogue invites representatives from important institutions, communities and groups linked to the Brazilian islands.
FRONT IV; Actions Post EWE: The focus of these actions is to work with the main people involved in disasters caused by EWE. The goal is to gather data which is of fundamental importance and that can help to strengthen the choice of context specific adaptation actions. This is done in order to reduce damage in the occurrence of new pressing climatic events or EWEs.
Expected outcome: Currently, it is still rare to identify companies that take climate change adaptation as their focus of actions through their private social investments (IPS). Therefore, the substantial results developed by the Project Adapt Brazil are a practical example of the importance and relevance in establishing partnerships between a civil society organization and the private sector (Ilhas do Brasil Institute/Bovespa Environmental and Social/ HSBC Institute). Just as the experience gained from these partnerships, the Ilhas do Brasil Institute intends to expand the scope of Project Adapt, collaborating with other companies that also intend to structure IPS focus on adaptation.

Purpose: Present a partnership between a civil society organization and the private sector that sought to strengthen the resilience of coastal communities. The objective was to provide them with information about the need for adaptation to climate change, based on different scenarios. Besides, the aim is to identify what technologies are available which can be used to minimize the risk of biodiversity loss and to identify those that improve the quality of life for these communities.
