Page Content: Introduction to the Facilitative Working Group of the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform 

The Local Communities
and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP) brings together people and their
knowledge systems towards achieving the objectives of the Convention and the
Paris Agreement.

 

The Facilitative Working Group (FWG) of the LCIPP was established with the
objective of further operationalizing the LCIPP and facilitating the
implementation of its three functions: knowledge, capacity for engagement, and
climate change policies and actions.

 

The FWG is comprised
of 14 representatives: seven representatives from indigenous peoples
organizations, one from each of the seven United Nations indigenous
sociocultural regions, and seven Party representatives.







 
The LCIPP’s work with the NWP 
 

The NWP is mandated to
integrate indigenous and traditional knowledge systems as a cross-cutting issue
in its activities. Several activities have been undertaken over the years,
including:

 


Producing
a technical paper on
“Indigenous and local knowledge in adaptation action and the application of
gender-sensitive approaches and tools for adaptation”.
Co-producing
knowledge outputs and sharing information on relevant work and engagement
opportunities with a global network of partners.
Promoting
collaborative activities to scale up adaptation action.
