NAP Summary: As 2021 draws to a close, we take a look at the work the AKP has been doing to address the most pressing knowledge gaps to achieve meaningful progress towards a climate-resilient world.
NAP Description: As 2021 draws to a close, we take a look at the work the AKP has been doing to address the most pressing knowledge gaps to achieve meaningful progress towards a climate-resilient world.
Page Content: During the month of November and December, the Adaptation Knowledge Portal (AKP) featured 8 new knowledge resources, which included sea level projection participatory actions for climate change, science-based climate services sustainable development initiatives, water and food systems, community resilience and more!
Resources for users to engage with!

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) contributed the NASA Sea Level Projection Tool, which allows users to visualize and download the sea level projection data from the IPCC 6th Assessment Report (AR6).

Laboratorio de Ciencia Ciudadana/Citizen Science Lab - Universidad de Los Lagos provided a paper that shows how synergies between Traditional and Local Knowledge (TLK) systems and scientific knowledge can be used to advance understanding of the slow-onset effects of climate change adaptation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Climate Investment Fund (CIF) contributed 3 resources: a learning brief from a pilot programme on climate resilience, a learning review, undertaken in collaboration with the Evaluation and Learning (E&L) team, which takes stock of the progress made from 12 Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) investments in developing and delivering Hydromet and Climate Services (HMCS) and case studies featuring lessons and insights on the process of Local Stakeholder Engagement (LSE) projects.

The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education provided a report on multiple coastal climatic impact-driver projections for different time periods and climate scenarios.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) contributed a new report which emphasized the need for human-wildlife coexistence, with an emphasis on resources and forming wide-ranging partnerships.

The World Meteorological Organization provided information on a project to advance climate adaptation through science-based climate services.

Stay up to date with the UNFCCC new stories after COP 26

New UNFCCC articles discussed the milestone of 20 years of adaptation support for Least Developed Countries, four achievements at COP 26 and growing momentum on global climate action. A new ‘action for climate empowerment’ hub has been designed to foster education and public awareness, training, public access to information and participation in climate change action in North Rhein-Westphalia and globally.
