Page Content: Introduction

The Facilitative Working Group (FWG) facilitates the implementation of the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP). The platform is an inclusive space, which brings together people and their knowledge systems as well as positive values, to build a climate resilient world for all. Work on this platform is progressing well in 2020, and some new exciting developments have been announced.
Here are three ways you can get involved this autumn:

Third meeting of the Facilitative Working Group (FWG)

The third meeting of the Facilitative Working Group will be held from 5-8 October 2020, from 16:00-19:00 CEST each day. The FWG is composed of fourteen members and fourteen alternate members representing both indigenous peoples and governments. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure the safety of the members and contributors, the meeting will be held virtually. They will be discussing a large number of exciting activities.

Training
Would you like to build your capacity related to indigenous knowledge? The Facilitative Working Group will be hosting a series of training webinars as part of activity 4 of the LCIPP work plan, to complement an in-person training workshop to be held next year.

The first two have been scheduled for 2020 as follows:
•Training webinar#1 will be held on 27 October 2020, on the topic: “Trust and Respect: Contours of Indigenous Knowledge”.
•Training webinar#2 will be held on 8 December 2020, on the topic: “What does ethical and equitable engagement of Indigenous Knowledge in the context of climate change look like?”
Get more information on the full series of the four training webinars here and check the LCIPP events webpage for updates in the coming weeks.

The LCIPP web Portal

The development of the LCIPP web portal is progressing well, and we look forward to launching the portal at the end of 2020 with continued engagement of valued contributors to the LCIPP.
